Born in Scotland, Grant became a world-reknowned anatomist after coming to Canada after World War I. From 1930-1956, he was Professor of Anatomy at the University of Toronto. He published three important anatomical works: A Method of Anatomy, Descriptive and Deductive (1937); Grant's Atlas of Anatomy (1943); Grant's Dissector (1940).
